The fund is managed by Adrian Courtenay (Formerly Vice President in the Special Situations group at D. E. Shaw) and blends hard-catalyst merger arbitrage situations with softer catalyst equity long/short positions, often with a special situation angle. The mandate is return seeking in nature (targetting double digits), reflected in position sizing which can be aggressive where the PM identified asymmetric opportunities. To protect the portoflio from 'macro' shocks the fund employs an index put strategy alongside position-level hedges.
