Schroder GAIA Sirios US Equity is a US focussed equity long short fund that launched on the GAIA platform in February 2013. The fund is managed by Sirios Capital Management, a Boston based firm with $1.2bn AuM, and is based upon an offshore vehicle that Sirios have been running since July 1999. Over its lifetime this fund has significantly outperformed the S&P 500 and long only US equity funds, both on an absolute return and risk adjusted basis by largely avoiding the downside in equity markets. Since launching as a UCITS vehicle the fund has performed strongly both in absolute terms and relative to the S&P 500 with an average net exposure of c.60%. At the heart of the fund is a fundamentally driven, long biased strategy. The portfolio manager aims to identify attractively valued growth companies for the long book, and companies with deteriorating fundamentals and poor balance sheets for the shorts. We value the continuity and experience of the investment team highly and find the long term track record compelling.
