Oceanwood is a European-focused investment manager founded and led by CIO, Christopher Gate, specialising in event driven opportunities across the capital structure. Christopher launched Oceanwood in 2006 after spinning out of Tudor Capital UK and has over 25 years experience running event driven strategies. The Oceanwood Opportunities Fund (offshore) has a strong track record and the firm recently launched a UCITS version, which is run near pari passu with the exception of illiquid strategies (which is a diminishing proportion of the offshore fund). The team employs an opportunistic investment style and seeks to identify special situations with recognisable catalysts which they anticipate to unlock value. This typically includes companies going through change driven by structural, regulatory or technological catalysts. Further, events (and outcomes) are analysed across the entire capital structure to maximise their ability to capitalise on opportunities. Oceanwood has deep expertise in the European region due to its diverse investment team, with the team buoyant on future opportunities due to an exciting and robust pipeline of transactions combined with a range of political, macro and regulatory nuances that creates inefficiencies across the region. The portfolio is concentrated and high conviction in nature, with 25-30 names.
